Sneak Peek from Shanghai

Here is sneak peek at just one of the {raw} selects from our hotel client photo shoot in Shanghai last week!  This is in front of the amazing chandelier that spanned 3 floors from the lobby. The photographer, stylist and model are quite famous in Shanghai and it was very interesting working with them on this project.

Our research for this ongoing project indicates that the wedding business in China is still in the very early stages of growth - only about 10 years or so!  Amazing if you think that there are close to 12 million weddings each year {compare that to the standard 2.4 million here in the U.S.}! There is so much opportunity for massive growth in this emerging nation especially so with the 'one child' policy in place in China - there is major focus by the parents and grandparents on hosting auspicious and lavish weddings.

We have learned {and continue to learn} so much about this exciting and interesting market and are honored that this client has placed so much trust in our international wedding expertise to continue to tap us as advisors on building out their entire Asia-Pacific wedding marketing initiatives.  We will share the final outcomes in early 2009!

yea, but the chinese photos are ALL manufactured - you go into a studio and dress in the studios clothes and basically have a fashion shoot and a book made.

and it's all done really cheaply

the level of personal connection and service doesn't exist as it does here....

Clarification - this photographer we worked with is one of the TOP fashion/commercial photographers in Asia - KK Fong. He is not a wedding photographer.

However - in my previous trip I did see some examples of some pretty impressive wedding photojournalism - I went there to observe real weddings at the top venues in Shanghai: The Shangri-La, Four Seasons, Ritz-Carlton, InterContinental, Park Hyatt and the list goes on and on.

Change in terms of weddings is sweeping the region...they are simply in a less mature stage of the wedding market but as in every other aspect are experiencing staggering and explosive growth.

I would never underestimate the power of the impact that the Chinese will have on the global wedding marketplace - it is simply a matter of time...Rebecca

Ali and Madelyn - I know! That gown was to die for in person as well! The stylist told me that it was inspired by a Galliano gown but I will get in contact with her and find out the exact designer! Rebecca
