An alternative that "gives back": donate your wedding dress to Making Memories, a Portland, Oregon company that auctions the dresses off at regional events called "Brides Against Breast Cancer".
(FYI, I'm NOT from that organization...I'm a co-founder of TheBigDay honeymoon registry, also headquartered in Portland. But I do think they've got a great idea :-)
